A blog of our current photography work.

Commercial Photography

While I focus mainly on portrait photography here at Two Birds Photography every now and then I get commissioned to do other projects. Featured on this post are a few photo shoots I worked on. The first photo is a piece I made for Life Force Arts Center to promote their Samhain healing fair. The second photo is a project we did for Dogwalkers. It was early spring of 2020 and we were just holed up inside our house obediently waiting for the whole pandemic thing to blow over. The idea was to do a whole photo shoot created on polaroids so I busted out my SX-70 camera and got to work. The third photo was for Common Good Cocktail House. I actually wasn’t commissioned to photograph this but it was also during spring of 2020 and there wasn’t much to do but drink and make art. It was a very tasty photo shoot to say the least. The last photo was a piece of artwork I helped create for Summer Thornton Design. It was made into a 40”x40” print to be displayed in their client’s kitchen. I hope I get to work on more projects like these in the future!

Laurel and Neil

A few weeks ago I photographed Laurel and Neil’s wedding at the fabulous Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet. It was a blustery day but the sprinkling of snow made their outdoor photos look magical! To warm up we finished the bridal party photos next to a fireplace in the mansion. Their ceremony took place in the chapel on site which was followed by cocktails in the mansion and then dinner and dancing in the ballroom. Laurel and Neil were so great to work for! A huge thank you to Rachel Langlois for doing an amazing job photographing with me!

Cayla and Anthony

Cayla and Anthony got married a few weeks ago on chilly but beautiful November day at the Morton Arboretum. They braved the cold and we took a bunch of portraits in nature to catch the last of the fall color. Their intimate ceremony was held in the Gingko room and then the same room was flipped for their reception. It was such a pleasure to photograph the love that Cayla and Anthony have for each other. Congratulations!! Thank you to Cayla and Anthony from my heart for having me be a part of their day. -Jake

Lauren and Brandon

I just love photographing weddings out in the country. Something about the fresh air and open space makes me feel right at home. Sable Creek Homestead in Minooka, where Lauren and Brandon had the wedding, was the perfect setting for their day! Lauren got ready on site in the huge bridal suite before we did a first look at the nearby Baker County Forest Preserve. It was quite windy that day and, fortunately, this location blocked all of the wind while we did portraits. The fall color in the forest was glorious! Their ceremony was held on the homestead and the site was built by hand by the owners. Everything about their day was just absolutely gorgeous and perfect and I feel so blessed that I got to capture it all. Congratulations to Lauren and Brandon!!
